Army Public Key Infrastructure
Program
Manager Secure Electronic Transactions—Devices (PM SET-D)
was established as part of the Army Common Access Card (CAC)/Public
Key Infrastructure (PKI) program. Maden Technologies was brought
in to guarantee that the PM SET-D program meet a Department of Defense
mandate requiring all users to digitally sign and encrypt their
e-mail by October 2003.
Maden Technologies' Solution
A complete solution has been delivered to ensure that no one will
be allowed full access to the Army networks without a CAC.
The Maden Technologies team has:

fielded card readers and middleware from 30,000 to 800,000
- Increased
trained people world-wide from 350 to 8,000
- Added
104 mass issuance workstations and created a field-install team
to accelerate CAC issuance

the Senior Leadership Communication Protection Plan and maintained
secure unclassified communication for the Army's senior leaders
- Received
designation as the Army Registration Authority for individuals
- Demonstrated
augmented infrastructure by proposing a solution for the CAC personal
identification number reset capability
PM
SET-D entered a new phase of the CAC/PKI program incorporating new
functionality using the CAC. These are:
- The
Biometrics Enterprise Solution
