Maden Technologies - Technology solutions for a secure enabled enterprise

A Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business

Maden Technologies Selected as a Prime on DoD’s Passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Electronic Product Code (EPC)-1 Award Group Four BPAs

Arlington, VA, July 14, 2005 Maden Technologies, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business providing information technology and security solutions, was selected today as a prime contractor for technical engineering services (Award Group 4) on the Department of Defense (DoD) passive RFID EPC-1 BPA. The BPA is available to users throughout DoD and the United States Coast Guard.

As a full service integrator of Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) and security solutions, Maden Technologies was chosen for its expertise in task order management, systems engineering and integration, installation, training, and related technical services. Under the BPA, Maden Technologies qualifies as a small business offering full life cycle support, including site analysis, installation, integration, operations and maintenance, testing and evaluation of software and hardware products, and recommendations on process implementation. Maden Technologies’ subcontractors are Cheval Rouge LLC, RFID Global Solutions, and Symbol Technologies.

DoD’s RFID EPC-1 project objective is to provide an interoperable and standardized system for identification, tracking, locating, and monitoring of commodities and assets. RFID readers are used to identify ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID tags located on shipping pallets and cases. The tags send a signal back to the reader, providing further information about the contents of the pallets and cases. The Pentagon has mandated that RFID tags be used on all Defense shipments by January, 2007.

“Given the Pentagon mandate, we view this award as a strategic opportunity for Maden Technologies to expand its AIT offerings to include RFID, as well as our current capabilities in smart cards and biometrics,” stated Omar Maden, CEO. “Our partnership with Cheval Rouge allows us to participate in Award Group 2 procurements (RFID readers), giving us the advantage of offering a complete solution to our clients. Cheval Rouge and our other teammates, RFID Global Solutions and Symbol Technologies, are world-class leaders in RFID equipment, architecture, and engineering. The Maden Technologies team will responsively deliver the full spectrum of RFID services and equipment to meet our clients’ needs,” Mr. Maden added.
